Line For Scorpion Xt1000

Featured Replies

this is my first 50 size reel. was wondering should i go with braid to get more line capacity or would 8-10lb copoly work fine? going on a 6'8 medium cumara. probably use for a lot of things. lizards, keitach fat impacts, small texas rigs etc

I normally use 12#. You don't need to worry about line capacity.

Have you spooled it up yet with the line that you would normally use? I mean, I wouldn't spool it with 20# mono but the little 50's really do have adequate line capacity for most things bass fishing.

I may be in the minority but I

spool my Chronarch 50e reels

with 20# PowerPro and add a

leader.

I find braid so much easier to

deal with than nylons. Including

picking out professional overruns!

You will be fine.

love mine with 40lb pp

I put 30# Power Pro on my reels. Right now all I have are 50 size Shimano's

For those of you with 50 size Shimano's and using braid......do any of you use backing? And if so how much backing vs. how much braid?

I used to. I don't anymore. Especially since I use a leader a lot I feel like I get a lot out of a spool of braid.

I just use a few feet to keep the braid from slipping. I spool the rest up with braid
