Just Finished My First Rod

Featured Replies

Just finished my first open water rod ( I started with an ice rod early in the winter). This will be my new drop shot/shakey head rod build on a RS Revelation 610MXF. I used Fuji KR concept guides which turned out great and an uplocking Aero reel seat. Built using a homemade wrapper and drier as well. Just order two casting blanks and can't wait to get started on those.

Ahh, someone else that likes the Aero seats uplocking! I have 3 like that myself.

great job. I like the uplocking aero seat also. I like the layout of the rod handle and the guides.

it is great fun building rods. before you know it you, too, will have rods, blanks, finishes, obscure guides, current guides, tip tops, epoxies, mixing sticks, trowels and spatulas, books, bookmarks tp the rodbuilding forums, and much, much, more squirreled away in all the places you can find to store it. what a great hobby!

I guessitimate I have maybe 50 blanks laying around and wouldn't care to get more. I don't feel a great need to buy run of the mill rods but they are very adequate compared to the rods I grew up with in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
