Redfish On Plastics?...

Featured Replies

I'm new to the Bass fishing world and have found a few spots that hold nice size Bass and are also holding really nice redfish. I'm fishing w plastic worms, frogs, plugs and flukes and these redfish will pay me no attention! I usually stop and fish while driving around at work(Fire inspector) so I don't have the luxury of having much more and no live bait.. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Reds will hit plastics.

I've caught them on everything you mentioned. However, I do most of my redfish damage with a spook or a gold spoon. Another option for you would be 1/4oz or so jighead and a gulp shrimp in new penny color. Fish it like a jig.

Good luck..... nothing fights like a red!

I like 3" paddle tails on a 1/4 or 5/16 jig head. Chartreuse glitter ,rootbeer/wh tail, pearl/char tail  are a few favs.

Gulp baits are good too.

i seen them catching reds on rage tail shrimp on a fishing show on tv once...also seen them using rage tail crabs...

Redfish will hit anything a bass will hit. Although spoons, topwaters and Gulp are common lures, I know a guy who frequently catches redfish on Senkos
