Big X-Raps

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

Although there is a lot of talk about swimbaits, and a lot of talk about the size 8 - 10 Rapala X-Raps, I haven't noticed anybody talking about the larger size X-Raps which really seem to scream "bass!!".

I am specifically talking about the 14 size X-Rap (almost 6", 1 1/2oz in the regular form, 1 5/8oz if jointed). Here in Cyprus the sizes 8-12 of the X-Rap have been working exceedingly well on largemouths, this prompted me to buy four of the 14 series X-Raps, both jointed and unjointed.

Has anyone used these babies for largemouth bass??? I understand these larger X-Raps are designed for saltwater fish, but hey, a 6" rap should be fair game for any bass!

Any feedback would be more than welcome!

If you are catching them on those big x-raps then you should try one of these:

Savagear 4 play.

It also funny, then when other fisherman see you using such big lures here in europe they think you're crazy. I have had coments like: "There are no tunafish here" or "Are you trying to catch a shark!"

But once you catch a bass they shut up! ;D

I have only fished the 08 which is the smallest size. I'll be interested to hear how you do with the larger versions.

All my succes has been with the 8 & 10 sizes, I've never even thought about the saltwater series. Maybe I should broaden my horizons. Let us know how you do.

Good luck

The X-RAP XR-12 os the best of both worlds. Not to small and not too big at about 4 1/2 to 5 inches in length this lure will catch bass in all sizes, especially those lunkers. If your looking for anyhting bigger I would go with a swimbait.

I agree that swimbaits are a good alternative choice, and I already got a few in my tackle box...

But then the large X-Raps are readily available off the shelf here, and they should be quite a bit of fun to use as well!!!

I have had quite similar responses when I was seen using a Super Spook (7 inches!). And of course they all just get quiet when they see a bucketmouth engulfing it!

well , we both know that the ladies here dont hesitate 2 eat big things  ;D

Time will show how effective the big x raps are
