Breaking In New Line Tips

Featured Replies

hey everyone i was just wodering how to get the memory out of new line. im trying to break in new power pro and i soak it with kvd spray but it still gets knotted iup. any ideas ?

Baitcaster or spinning reel?

Probably wind knot. I had bad problems with the last 2 spools of powerpro i used. I have since switched to 832 and have not had a single wind knot in over a year.

Mono, fluoro or braid? Casting or spinning reel? Did you spool it on yourself or did you have it done for you?

If it's wind knots then try the little bit more expensive power pro super 8 slick, it's a lot easier to pull wind knots out with the super slick than the original power pro.

Need more info as posted above.  Regular old Power Pro has caused me no probliems on spin or cast.  Ever.  Something else is going on.  No break-in, line conditioner, or anything is necessary IF it is spooled properly.

There definitely is a break in period, but Power Pro has almost zero memory. After a couple hours of use, it gets nice and soft.

Agree with J.F. No memory for any braid that I know of. Take a peek at the line as you engage the reel, especially a spinning reel. Nip any knots in the bud.
