Favorite Weighted Swimbait Hook With Screw Lock?

Featured Replies

Specifically talking about using for a Basstrix.

I have tried Owner Beast, Gamakatsu superline, Trokar?

I tend to lean toward Owner and Gammy.  Don't know if there is really much difference between the two of them other than the Owners are like $2 more.

I use both, both are great. I think I have some davis swimbait hooks also. Would have stuck with a single brand, but tw did not have same brand w/ different weights in stock when I bought them. quality vs. $??? On the 3 brands mentioned, I will go for whatever is cheaper, they are all quality.

I love the VMC that's coming from a gammy guy.

Owner makes a weighted non-beast model that is quite good as well..

Ditto

I like them best because of the centering pin they have.

Makes it much easier to rig straight.

I've been pretty happy with vmc and gamakatsu. Just don't care for how much they cost per hook lol. But there worth it

I have been a Gammy guy for years, but recently a buddy of mine introduced me to the VMC swimbait hook, and I like the design of it. The hooksets are pretty deep in the fishes mouth.

Another vote for the owner beast. Better spring keeper IMO and the keel weight seems to pick up less vegetation than the competition.

Moaner Hooks are pretty good as well. The weighted Stroker hooks are what I use mainly. Also they have a weighted Stick'r hook which is essentially a flipping hook with a screwlock and a weight close to the hook eye. And a weighted Swimmin Stick'r which is the same hook but weight further down the shank. I have all of them but have not used the Stick'r yet.

If i need a bigger gap, then I turn to the weighted Owner Beasts.

I saw those and wanted to try a VMC product but after looking at the shape of the weight I decided against it.

Do you have a problem going through the grass with them?

I use the Drop Dead swim bait hooks. They have the little weight, I see what your saying about the heavier ones with a cube looking weight. Yeah, I do not throw those.

I've tried the cube weighted vmc. I have since went to the gama hooks. The cube weight is just so. It and catches a ton of crap In the water. I have the drop dead hooks also and they are very nice to use.

Not a problem there a nice sharp hook and stout. The shape of the weight just doesn't work in nasty ponds or lakes. It's a major catch all.

Beast

Owner, but the price of the VMC makes me want to switch.  :dazed-7:
