First Time Ned Rig

Featured Replies

Fished a tourney at lake Norfork this past weekend and we caught countless smallies and this LM on the Ned rig. First time users and now we are both believers.

I started a topic like this on Friday after fishing that rig, and like you became a believer.

Can someone please explain to me exactly what this rig is? I cant find much info on it. Kind of looks like a shaky head to me?

I fished this because of the topic you posted. Thanks again BR members for sharing your knowledge.

You can use a button hook or a small

Ball head hook. I used a yum dinger cut in half. Just hopped it along the bottom.

I used a Zinker from Z-Man cut in half (or you can use any 5" stickbait Senko style bait) and then a small button head as shown or in my case I used a small 1/8 oz 1/0 round jighead.  A 1/16oz would probably produce better.  You basically throw it out and bounce it along. It's not an impressive looking bait, and honesty when you first rig it up you think "yeah okay like this is going to catch fish" and then it does....really well at least the first outing I had with it. I rig them by threading  them on the hook from the end I cut(middle of the bait toward the head of the jig).

Try searching Midwest Finesse Tactics, you'll find some info then. It's like a shakyhead in that they're both plastics on a leadhead, the similarities end there though.
