Tatula T-Wing System : Love It Or Hate It ?

you just answered your own question. gj

The mind has been known to play tricks on people. Blindfolded you couldn't tell them apart.

Op it's a great reel and you'll enjoy it. I think you are putting too much thought into the whole tws thing.

No, because it works exactly the same. One reel does not outperform the other. The mind has been known to play tricks on people. Blindfolded you couldn't tell them apart.

We are talking about the levelwind, not the reel as a whole lol. Zillion TWS > Tatula TWS.

I fondle reels often ,,the reel felt great and all but the tws is just more.moving parts to replace and i dont see dawia having them 5 yrs from now.

I really enjoy my Tatula-R's and I think they are fantastic reel's. I get a very smooth and quality feeling from mine. I like the SS SV more but they each have their place. I am a VERY big fan of the double D's though..............Duckett & Daiwa

I bought one after test casting a customer's reel. I'll use it for chuck and wind applications. Some guys don't like flipping with it because the line comes out of the middle slot. I'm not sure it would hurt anything because it should slide back when you set the hook begin the retrieve. The one I tested had 20# braid on it and it fluttered across the slot making some noise. Not a big deal to me but intolerable to others. The reel casts well but no better than other Daiwas I've seen. The T wing is a take it or leave it gimmicky feature imo. At the $100 price you can find them they're not a bad reel.

What he said^ Good reel but sucks for flipping.

I like it but don't love it. It makes the nose of the reel bulky and harder to palm, plus it's not great for flipping as others mentioned. I haven't noticed any difference in casting distance over shimanos and lews in the same price range, however it is a little more effortless especially when pitching.

What rod pairs up well with the Tatula?

What rod pairs up well with the Tatula?

You could probably pair about any rod you want with them. However take into account the reel wait and your intended application(s). I have my 7:3.1 on a 7"2 Shimano Cumara MH XF rod. Balances and feels quite nice. Right now I am tossing bigger jigs with this outfit. Really getting great casting distance.

The tatula rod has a great balance with the tatula reel.

What rod pairs up well with the Tatula?

My Powell Diesels pair up really well. Not light as a feather but not heavy either. Again, heavy is very subjective in today's modern world of fishing gear and the never ending quest to be the manufacturer of the newest, lightest reel or rod on the market..."now at 1.2 oz, the lightest Shimano ever made" Eventually it just can't get much lighter.....fish what's comfortable for you and enjoy it.
