Anyone use this knot? Is it better than regular palamor knot?

I don't know about the nanofil knot, but the double Palomar is really only useful for braided line. The knot will slip and come undone if you do a regular Palomar.

Why would you spread false information to someone? Thousands of people use the Palomar knot with braid and have zero issues. If it slips then that's USER error and not the knot.

Op I've used it just to try but that was it. I don't experience any issues with a regular Palomar knot so I don't have a reason really. Generally doubling your line up makes for a stronger knot with other knot types like the Uni.

I have had this happen to me on more than one occasion when I first started using braid. It will slip. That's why so many people recommend using a double Palomar instead.... Kinda hard to mess up a Palomar knot, so I don't see how it's user error.

I also use the Palomar with #40 braid and have never, repeat, never had a knot come untied. And never had a line break. I once hooked into a stump and bent a 5/0 hook pulling on the line

Your doing something wrong. You only had this happen to you when you were new to braid? Well maybe you just didn't know how to tie the knot, you don't need to double a palamor.

I tie Palomar knots with braid and have no issues. My father uses a weird Palomar type knot for Crankbaits using Fluro and sometimes that slips, but it's not a textbook Palomar.

I haven't had a palomar knot slip out in braid as of yet.  If they are tied correctly and dressed properly, the slip factor is very very low.

Years ago when I was using 10lb Power Pro I did have some Palomar knots that slipped.  Started to use the double Palomar and the problem stopped.  I have never had 20lb or higher braid slip but I still tie the double Palomar just for confidence.

^^^^^That's the exact pound test it slipped for me also. I can recall two incidents where the knot slipped. One was with 10 # Fire line. The other was 10 # spiderwire. I doubt I was doing something wrong. It must be easier for the knot to slip with lower # tests. I know I'm not the only one this has happened to.

I use the double palomar just because it's so simple to double up. One more loop, that's it. Why not? Just get it sopping spitty and you're good.

I use braid from 8lb to 50lb and have never had the palomar slip. Practice more. I feel extra loops make line weaker not stronger. Adding extra loop to a knot is no excuse for sloppy knot tieing. If low pound test braid is slipping take more time and ic you feel it necessary add 2 half hitches on top of the palomar with the tag end.

Different types of line, different pound strength, different knots. Go with what works for you. I like the Palomar on #40 braid and see no need for a double Palomar. How about a triple Palomar? How about a square knot on top of the improved clinch knot? How about a drop of Super Glue on your knot? We seem to go out of our way to over-do fishing techniques. I bet the bass are laughing at us.
