Until I get my swimbait rod I will be using my frog rod to throw swimbaits. Should I tie a leader onto the braid? If so, what line should I use? I will be throwing ROF 0 and 5

I just ordered some 20# p line cxx for leader material for swimbaits. Used to throw them on 20-25 # big game.

What are the advantages of mono over floro for swimbaits?

The biggest difference is Flouro in clear water.

In darker water it's not really a big deal either way.

Maybe a little more stretch with mono. If you go with 20# line I don't think there's much of a difference.

Knot strength and a little extra give.

Mono will usually have less stretch than comparable fluorocarbon.  On long casts this can make a big difference on hook up ratio...

Have no idea what a ROF 0 and 5 are. However, if they are some new soft swimbait then I suggest useing 30# braid.

I use that for my combo frog/swimbait setup.

ROF 5 etc. refers to the rate of fall per ten seconds or approximately how deep the bait will go on a slow steady retrieve.

That's probably the more efficient and experienced way to go about it, but it helps to know the ROF when you buy those big "tennis shoe" swimbaits lol.

Sometimes it is good to remember that Mono (nylon) floats and Fluoro sinks.
