Which Caster / Why: Pfleuger Patriarch Or Abu Revo3?

Featured Replies

On paper they look identical, though I have read in a couple of places that the Patriarch doesn't get it out there as far as reels in it's class.  If it's nominal, I can live with it - looking to use it on a 7'6" Duckett Micro Magic Pro: topwater, heavy spinners, swimbaits, etc.  I understand it's good for flipping / pitching, but I will definitely be using whatever I buy for distance casting.  Thoughts?

Thx,

Reels don't "Get it out there", rods do. These reels are similar in more than on paper. They are both Pure Fishing products and built at the same factory. You can find some slight differences but you really have to dig into them. Let features and the deal decide for you.

I cant speak for the phlueger but the revo has 22lb drag so if your going to use it for heavier applications that might be a good thing. other than that thay are pretty similar.

A shimano is a better option than a pfluger or a Abu garcia

I would suggest you put them on a rod and see how they feel in your hands.  I had the Revo and didn't like how low the gearbox sat as it wasn't comfortable for me to palm the reel.
