Never had a casting rod with micro guides before : Any tactic , technique or line type that is a disadvantage for using a casting rod with micro guides ?

For a first casting rod with micro guides I am considering a Veritas 2.0 M or MH to try (i.e. top water , spinners , soft plastics and jigs) .

The only issue I've had is passing leaders through is a pain so I use shorter leaders. 

Using braid and dogwood floating on the water.

Dogwood, filimenteous algae and icing would be the main conditions to use larger guides. "Micro" covers a range of guide sizes so you have to check yours but a size 4 guide (roughly 2.5mm opening) will pass 50# braid and 15# leader using a well tied and trimmed Albright. Try the FG knot too. Not open a can of worms, but in my experience you can get away with straight braid more often than not. The advantage to micros is reducing weight in the tip section which maximizes the blank's responsiveness and balance & ultimately sensitivity which is most evident fishing jigs, plastics etc. The claims of improved accuracy and casting distance are ancillary and often over blown in marketing.

I only use mono, but it works great. The tip eye got chipped on mine and it began to shred the string, but that might happen with regular eyes too.

What is dogwood, what is filimenteous algae? I assume icing is fishing in cold weather.

I have the Veritas 2.0 in a 7' MH. Love it and haven't had the issues people are talking about. And if anyone can point me to their 7'M with micros, I'd love you for it.

I've switched to Micro's or Mini's for all my setups now and the only downside is some of the areas I fish have some really slimy weeds that stick to the line and gunk up the last guide.  I also tend to clean the guides more often than i ever did with regular guides.

I've got tons of crap in the waters here and have yet to have any issues with the guide gunking up. Same goes for winter fishing. Below freezing air temps have yet to freeze my eyes.
