And it's sweeeeet! Grabbed one up from the sale TW was having. Spooled it with 12lb suffix siege mono. I tied on a weightless zoom swimmin fluke JUNIOR (yes, the lil one) with a gammy 2/O ewg. Adjusted the tension and launched it. I threw that lil fluke about 35-40 yards accross my lawn! It palms nicely and balanced great on my veritas rod. Sweet lil reel that can launch some pretty light lures. Thinkin bout upgrading to abec bearings and seeing what it can REALLY do. Anybody else tried one of these out??

Clean and flush the stock bearings and enjoy it as is. I tried upgraded bearings in a Lexa and it didn't offer $30 better casting on the Lexa. I think the fixed inductor on the spool is the reason. I did add a bearing under the cast control cap and it improved the feel when retrieving or fighting a fish.

What size bearing is under the cap? I like mine but it really shines with heavier baits.

U totally flush the grease? Do u add any other lubricant?

40 yards on weightless plastics? Also know as 120'

Lexa is a good reel, I've got one, but 

had some problems with the anti-reverse

pawl. It got mangled strangely. A number

of casts I would make would abruptly 

stop mid-cast which is what caused the 

problem.

 

I've straightened out the pawl and it still

works well. Casts light lures well. Is a good

overall reel.

 

That said, I hardly touch it anymore thanks

to my two Chronarch 50e reels

 

One of my boys is learning bait casting with

the Lexa though. I have no problem suggesting

the Lexa.

Yes 35-40 yards with weightless plastics. 4" weightless plastics. I threw a r.i trixie shark and threw it considerably farther. Sweet lil reel for the money.

On the subject of the chronarch 50E i want one of those for my next reel. Budget just wouldn't allow at the time.

I believe it's the 5x11x4. (It's the larger of the 2 most common Daiwa sizes)

Ya I agree. I have never actually measured my casts but I would imagine I must be doing 60+ yard with traps all day then

I eyeballed in my yard what i figured to be 35-40 yards. 50-60yds with a trap or something like a sammy doesn't sound unreasonable at all with a decent rod and reel if you've got a good thumb and your breaks are low/off...

I purchased a Lexa 300pwrl for swimbaits, I've not tried it out yet. I disassembled it upon arrival and I like what I saw, wasn't all fouled up with allot of extra grease, but I cleaned it anyway and lubed the bearings. I like the way it feels, but I haven't used it yet. Maybe I should go today?

Yeah you should...maybe I should too after work. Haha! If the 300 is anything like my 100 you'll love it. Hands down the best reel I've ever gotten at that price point.

When I disengage the spool, I'm able to still spin the handle, freely. Seemed odd. Also, when I try to make a long cast and really come forward fast.. the spool immediately engages and my lure almost whips right back at me. Anyone else experience this?

I should have elaborated more, sorry lol. While I am performing the action of using the thumb bar, the handle is free. Like maybe not 100% clicked down but most of the way down, the handle is free. My citica and abu don't do that.
