I recently bought a shimano c1+ baitcaster. When I spooled it up with 12lb mono,it spooled up lopsided,with more line on the right side of the spool than on the left side. Can anyone tell me why it does this?

This is a funny story.  Once when my line broke i had to put the line through the holes in the rod again.  I only forgot to put the line through the hole in the baitcaster which makes it go back and forth.  If anybody can be more specific on my writing,(im not a good writer), that would be great.  Hope that helps

For whatever reason this sometimes happens to me with my quantum. Make sure your knot on the spool as as small as possible, an when you begin spoiling make sure that the feeder/eye/whatever it's actually called that goes back and forth, is all the way to either the right or the left. Don't start spoiling in the middle. Make sure you spoil with an even speed for the duration. Hope this fixes the problem.

Did you stop and start at all?  If not I don't know what to tell you except pull it off (in a field) and try again.

Is the guide tight on the worm gear?

It is maybe catching the knot on the spool. I always use tape because it's easier and there is no point for a knot. Also it happens when you hold the line tight and do it close to the level wind. It dosent let the line move back and forth freely enough and you need to try and follow it with your fingers. Or try and move the point on where you hold the line behind the first eye. Also try and slow down on how fast you put it on. You don't have to reel as fast as possible and be done in 30 seconds.

if your using your fingers to aply pressure on line as you reel, then you will have to follow the line eye as you reel. Happens to me a Some times

I've had that happen, when I get out on the water i bomb a few casts with a spinner bait and the line spools up like it should.

Are you using your fingers to hold the line as you are reeling? If so, there is a chance that you are unconsciously applying tension to the levelwind more so on the right side than the left side. The best thing to is apply tension to the line without using your fingers so that in theory, the levelwind will put the line on the spool evenly. Although that does not always work because I have a Curado 50E that stacks line on the left side of the spool even when I am not using my fingers to hold the line.

First, check to be sure your line guide pawl and/or the worm gear isn't worn, which can also cause "stacking" the line unevenly. If the pawl is okay, just fish with it for a while and it will even out.

I do hold the line to close to the reel. Been doing it this way for years, Not going to do that anymore. A bomb cast does correct it but I'd rather put it on right the first time. Thanks for the tip!
