Diawa Tatula Casting Rod Question

Featured Replies

For anyone who uses their medium heavy's, either 6'10" , 7'1",or 7'2",  are they a true medium heavy action?  Or do they fish like a heavy?  Or a medium?  Thanks!

I have the 7'2" MH (TAT721MHRB) and it's pretty much a spot-on MH.  However, this rod is a regular action (moderate-fast) and the other two rods you mention are fast and extra-fast actions so they will all feel different. I know there are some other Tat rod owners on the board so you might get some feed back on the other rods...

Beautiful combo! I am sure it gets the highest approval rating!

I have handled a few Tatula rods at the local shop and they seem true to their ratings. As noted above pay attention to their action ... fast, extra fast, regualr, etc will all fish different. Not really sure your intended use but perhaps if a local shop has some try to get over there to handle them in person.

I have both the 6'10 and 7'1 MH. They both fish like a true MH. Nice tip with plenty of backbone. Definitely not broomstick or H.

Spot on I have the 6,10 mh fast tip and it's on the money compared to my *** mh which is basically a heavy

We need to differentiate power and action.

There are no industry standard. Look at lure rating and see if those weights fit with what you plan to use the rod for.

Exactly and some people's ideas of a rods power differ. Also the rods tip plays a big part. I had a 7'3 *** H and it was a heavy in my eyes. The guy above feels that his mh *** is more like a heavy. My champ extreme 704 is labeled as a heavy but due to it having a softer tip I'd say it fishes more like my endurance 723 mh.

I have the 7'2"- dead on what I think is MH. Also the 7'1"- would have to say it's a MH but on the lighter side but it has become one of my favorite rods, nice fast sensitive tip but a lot of backbone. And I have the 7'1" regular action which is a true MH with a slower action. I use it for big lipless rattle baits

Just ordered the M/L from Amazon. $112.00 shipped.

I've never seen or held a Tatula but this rod should be great for an incoming Daiwa Luna 103.

Should do well for wacky worms unweighted

Some compare it to the TD Zillion for far less cash.

We'll see!
