12 Foot Coleman Crawdad And Trailer Is It Worth The $$$

Featured Replies

Hey Guys! First post!

A church member has this boat. Its in pretty decent shape, has 2 swivel seats and sits on a trailer. The trailer is decent with a manual winch. I just have about 5 ponds that are small enough to bank fish but the most popular one is huge and has no bank access for the weeds and is DEEP. I want this boat for this one pond. The boat is $700 firm. It comes with an older trolling motor with 30 pounds of thrust.  I don't have any pictures but you guys know your stuff. Again, its the Coleman Crawdad 12 foot. Thanks!

If you compare it to what a lot of us pay for a kayak of similar length without a trolling motor or trailer then yes I would say its worth it. Once you get off the bank you will never go back.

Thanks a lot. I looked at the kayaks but I have 3 girls who love to set that hook! Won't be able to all go at once but one at a time will work. Thanks again.

Ps. I can buy the boat and motor only for $450. It will fit it my full size short bed silverdo and 3 feet will hang off. I'm in a small SMALL farm town and know the only sheriff so I think I'll be ok as far as getting pulled over.

I had one myself, and paid about the same for it. Was my first boat. I'd buy another if I found one locally. I'd recommend getting it with the trailer. They aren't super heavy, but it would take two adults to load and unload it easily. It's stable enough to stand and fish out of. Go for it.

Bought it for $550!

I bought a Crawdad about 25 years ago and fished small ponds and lakes with it with a trolling motor and carried it in the bed of a S-10 Chevy pick up. Eventually put a 5hp motor on it. Easy to handle and had a great time with it. Sold it after buying a bass boat but missed it for small ponds.

This past fall I bought one that the owner had put a carpeted plywood floor in it and added about 30 lbs to the boats weight, now about 130 lbs. Added a 45lb trolling motor to it and will fish small ponds and lakes around home.

I licensed and registered my Crawdad this week and today washed it and detailed it and installing trolling motor on bow. Bought a Minn Kota Endura 45lb trolling motor and their battery box. The new trolling motors are using a circuit breaker between battery and TM. Thought about putting it under one of the seat out of the way. Any suggestions?

Also considering a trailer to haul it.
