please help i would like to knock some of these out this weekend if i get a decent response, or i gues i would be curious what kind of clear coat or topcoat you guys are useing

thanks ben

This is just my personal experience so someone may have a completely different opinion but all of the lures I have encountered that have been done with automotive paint have had a terrible smell. That's not to say you can't use it but that may be something that you want to consider.

The weedgaurds are inserted before pouring the mold. The paint on the third one is brown powder coat and then I airbrushed the belly orange.

I kind of figured the weedguards were poured in place, very nice. Did you use Createx on your jig? I am slowly going to break into air brushing, just don't have the time lately. I have all the components though. Your lures and paint jobs are beautiful. I originally was starting to get into crankbait building, but again got too busy with jigs.

I use different automotive paints. I've been messing around with cranks myself lately.

Just use the automotive (word) in the search an you can pm them an find out what they are doing.

Hope this helps an remember if you stumble across something post pictures an comments.

I use them all the time. Never have noticed a smell after they dry. Just get you some Devcon 2 Ton from Wal-Mart for an easy top coat.

Just a note to all over here, Wal-Mart no longer will carry or carries Devcon 2 Ton (D2T). I checked all the Wal-Marts by us and they are discontinuing them. They are being replaced by something else. So if yours still has it you better stock up.

All laqure based paints put off a smell of some kind.   No matter what top coat you use.   With that said the best painters in the country are shooting laqures.   If a bass could smell a crankbait moving by at top

speed we would never catch a fish.

Walmart is no longer a distributor of Devcon Epoxy products.    I suggest you look at Flex Coat rod building epoxy, has a good pot life, water proof and dries clear.   I do not know how quick it's going to yellow.   Good luck on finding a new clear coat that was as user friendly as devcon.
