Magazine Rant

Featured Replies

So I just read my long awaited March issue of this magazine. It's been on the store shelves for over a month, but I have a subscription so I don't expect to receive it in a timely matter. It took all of fourteen minutes to read. What a rip off! Twenty full page ads, another dozen with a third or more if the page containing ads, four full page photos plus the full page photos with the lead in half paragraph and it only contained 48 pages! Guess who isn't renewing his subscription?

I'll go ahead and ask for everybody, what magazine was it?   :eyebrows:

Oh.  I can think of a couple that would fit the description he gave.  Why does it seem like most of (all) the bass fishing magazines have taken a nose dive?

Being in printing for years, I can say one of the reasons they have tanked> Cost....  It cost double what it use to (10 years ago maybe)  to produce a magazine.  Basically advertising is the only income.  That's why you may see a great new magazine on the shelf and within a few years it is filled with ads.  Check out "Outside" magazine to see a magazine that has a nice balance of ads and content.  It has a bunch of good info on outdoor gear, camping, hiking, and just hanging out outdoors.

The magaizne business is tough where most mags are trying to sell as many ads as possible to make ends meet then just putt enough content (articles) in to look like a magazine. With that said I can guarantee they are not talking about Bass Angler Magazine. If you're looking for a good mag, one that will honestly help you catch more bass then pick up a copy. You can read the reviews Tackle Warehouse and subscribe here if you like.

If you're a subscriber I'd also apprecte any feedback.  Thanks Mark Lassagne, Editor-in-Chief

I'm not a subscriber, but yours is one of the best bass fishing magazines on the market.

I went to your site and was thinking about subscribing until I noticed it said "please allow up to 12 weeks for first issue to arrive" Three months to get the first issue?

This magazine is only published four times a year.

Couldn't you get the most current one?

I would like a bass magazine that focuses on the north more than the south and west...

Sounds like in fisherman or North American fisherman mags

I actually started reading my latest Bassmaster issue and I am enjoying it so far. .

I know that they say that the internet has fouled the magazine business, but I will keep buying magazines until I install some method to use my computer while I'm on the pot.
