Jig question

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I have a bunch of jigs that I love however I do not like the rubber band skirt keepers.  I am planning on tying them with copper wire then cutting the rubber bands, are there any tips to this?  I just don't want to mess up some of my favorite jigs

Thanks

You may want to take a look at some small zip ties.  Can get them in various colors that can match up really well.  Put the clip on top and cinch down tight.

slide the collar back a tad then wrap the wire around 2 times and twist it tight.  Not too tight or it will break the wire or cut the skirt strands.  I'd practice a few on other lures and not your favorites.

Thanks,

I was going to try the sliding the band back trick, but wanted to ask first.

i like using ultra wire that you can pick up at any fly shop

it is a small diameter and very strong

I also like the zip tie method
