Maxima Ultragreen

Featured Replies

I'm a big fluorocarbon fan and use it for everything except jerkbaits and crankbaits. For those I love a mono/copoly. I have been using 12lb Yozuri and its a great line and all I just want to try something a little different.

I have had my eye on Maxima Ultragreen for awhile and really want to try it but I haven't see that many reviews on it. Has anybody used it? If so what were the pros and cons of it?

Good Line and especially effective material for leaders.

Very good knot strength, very good abrasion resistance, dependable stretch rate, but it's not cheap.

I used it for several years.  I found it to be a little stiff for my liking.  It worked well on bait casters but not so good on spinning reels.

Its going to be a little stiffer than your Yozuri but less stretch & stronger.

Thats good to hear. Price isn't a problem and neither is stiffness I have fluorocarbon on everything besides my jerkbait and cranking rods so I'm used to a little stiffer line.

I'm thinking of getting some 12lb for jerkbaits and 15lb for a squarebill rod. Hearing how you guys said it's pretty abrassion resistant could 12lb hold up from being banged up on rip rap with a squarebill?

I'd go lighter than 12 for the Jerkbaits (8-10).  I love the stuff on my Swimbait rod and as Carolina rig leaders.
