I finally broke down and tried the Senko since I couldn't get any bites at the pond on anything else. I like the fall action and the texture, but for it to be $7 a bag, I'd hope they'd be a little more durable. On the other hand, I did get two bites, but didn't catch either. Oh well, at least I know I can get bites on it.

Bass pro brand aren't too bad, more durable, and are cheaper than GY. They also have double the plastics in the bag. GY senkos have better action though.

The closest BPS is about 2-2 1/2 hours away, unfortunately. Probably a good thing though. I have a feeling I'd never have money if there was one closer.

I was gonna pick some Dingers up today as well, but I didn't see any. I've used them before but never caught anything on them. That was before I had the patience to fish them weightless though.

Yeah price per bag does suck with senkos but then again it's hard to put a price tag on what works. I'm not a huge fan of using senkos but when the bass clam up it seems to be a go to bait for me.

How did you rig it?

 When in these situations (tough bite) there is no substitute for a Gary Yamamoto plastic....( after experimenting with many in the same situation i have found they work 99% of the time)  try a creature Black/ blue.

  If you are slow dragging it you have to tune in to the feeling of a slight weight feeling on the end almost like getting stuck in heavy algae for a second, set the hook.  those bites are almost too late when they are picky.

There are some days when just about any "stick bait" will get you bit, no doubt about it. But, there are those days when the original Senko really shines. I carry both with me, just in case.

Yum Dingers have consistently worked for me, better than the original GYCB senko.

As for it not producing well...Sometimes we pull it out as a last resort when fish absolutely will not bite anything. You can also pick up some 3" for really tough conditions.

The Senko's are my go to for sure.  I love fishing them.  They always seem to catch fish.

If you're buying a stickbait and it isn't a Z-Man, you're literally throwing your money right out of the boat.  Senkos are about as durable as a wet napkin.  No idea why people are willing to use something that is so fragile when other options exist.  To each his own though I guess.  Whatever makes people happy is cool with me.

no offense MB but if you are willing to buy and upkeep a boat ( which I can't pull off fishing 6 days a week) spending a couple extra dollars to actually catch the fish doesn't seem like much of a burden. and that softness is why picky bass bite 'em.

If you think they're fragile T-rigged, try wacky rigging them. I have settled on Big Bite and that's where I'll stay until someone proves otherwise. Since no one else I know uses these, that probably won't happen. But I will try shorter ones to get a bite.

Thats a really good point.  Its like paying $1,000,000/year in taxes... Means you are making lots of money.

I like the Stik-O's from BPS. I have used the white ones a bunch on smallmouth around here. Yesterday I caught a 19 incher on a 4 inch white one. I have also caught some fish on the Yum Dingers before.

Love the BPS stik-O's. I also really like the YUM Dingers. Both quality baits. I bought one bag of GY senkos and figured that was enough, I could get more for less at BPS. My favorite way to rig them is wacky. I haven't tried T-riggin it yet.

Yep, my PB largemouth was caught on a 3" Senko. 

Ebay has stick baits in bulk. They work just as good imho.

I'm going to second the gy senkos.... I don't get that many bites on them but when I do.... My line takes off.

Stick baits will flat out catch fish of all sizes under a bunch of conditions.  You don't need the expensive G/Y variety, stick-o and ace will work just as good.  Use as little weight as possible for the weather conditions.  4 inch is my favorite size and they cast a mile.
