Duckett Ghost Vs Dobyns Fury

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a ~100 dollar rod and these two rods are my top two choices. For anyone who has handled both of these rods, which one do you think is the better of the two?

before I answer this, what length and power would you buy, and what would be the main purpose of this rod?

Also, just an FYI, the Fury just came out so don't expect that many people to have used the Fury and the Ghost.

My story with these 2 rods is:

Owned a 7' MH Ghost, thought it was ok. Wasn't thrilled with the guides and the quality control  can be really hit or miss it seems. Felt light, fairly sensitive, but just seemed poorly made and felt a little cheap to me. Sold it and a month later got a 7'MH Micro Magic Pro which is a much better rod and worth the price increase.

I bought a Fury 735 a little over a week ago. Feels very well constructed, doesn't look or feel cheap at all, feels pretty light and is more sensitive than I thought it would be. It fished great and I can seem them selling very well once people get them in hand. For me it's a no brainer to go with the Fury or wait until the new *** Black comes out and compare it to that. Hope this helps.

I was thinking about the 703 since it seems to fit what I want to do. I don't do much frog fishing and I really don't fish in any real nasty stuff.

703?

I have a question for those who own a Fury rod: I've seen many purchasing the 735. May I ask what Mag Heavy power is? What lures and techniques would fit that rod?

Uses for the 735 are frogs, pitching, flipping and small swimbaits. I use mine for pitching.

dobyns 735 in any series make fantastic frog rods. Lots of people use them for jigs as well.
