Hey guys, has anyone had any experience with either of these swimbaits? If you can give me a review of either or compare the two if you have owned both.

Ive never used a large soft body, only hard bodies. But I also have never used a low priced jointed bait so i was a bit worried about that.

Lucky Craft is a great bait for the price, but to be honest, I haven't fished it much, and only caught a dink on it when I did(same can be said of my Gantarel). I have options, and usually go with my proven fish catchers, Mattlures Hardgill. When it comes to the Mattlures Ultimate, well, I can say early this spring it was easily responsible for half the fish I caught(20+), it's just a proven fish catcher. I'll add that I use it much like a big jig, dragging along, or slow swimming close to the bottom, and along ambush points.

I'll add, for $20, that LC is pretty durable, I "accidentally" smacked it on some rip rap on three consecutive casts, and although "bruised", it was not broken. And that's the thing, it's $20, not a $60+ Hardgill(if you could even get one). Cheap enough that I bought three, just so I could play with them, do some mods I saw on another site.

I have no experience with the ultimate bluegill, but i have used the u2 bluegill from mattlures.  The downside on the u2 bluegill or most of his soft body swimbaits won't swim straight out of the package.  To solve this problem, you will have to boil the body.  This method should be on his site.  Another thing is that you will have to fish the bluegill faster in order to get the tail to start kicking.  If you fish it too slow, the tail will have little or no action at all.  The upside of this bait is that when you dead stick it on the bottom, it will stand on its nose like its feeding on the bottom.  This is the only input i can add, don't know if it will help you much.  

I've had both. Not impressed with the Lucky Craft so far.

Not a fan of LCs jointed stuff, it easily breaks. Stick with their solid hardbaits

Can't go wrong with the Mattlures. With any Mattlures.

 

No idea about the Lucky Craft.

 

One tip about the soft gills; if you're primarily looking to swim them, I liked the OG boottails the best, followed by the newer version of the ultimate.
