Is the  G. Loomis E6X Casting Rod $80 better than the Dobyns Fury Casting Rod?

All things equal (length, power, action, etc.).

I need another MH rod and am in the market.

Also, will there be some 4th of July sales anywhere that might save me a few $$$ ?

I do not own any of these rods but I'll help you as to know how to compare. First off, the E6X is made in the U.S., that alone makes the price point high versus the Fury which is made overseas.  The E6X uses Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides, not the greatest but a decent guide and Fuji quality, the Fury uses Sea-Guide Guides, these are the cheapest OEM guides on the market, these are used on rods like the Berkley Shock and Cherrywood which are considerable less. Just those 2 elements tell me the E6X is above the Fury but to be fair to the Fury series, it isn't designed or made to compete against an E6X, it is an entry level rod to get you in the Dobyns rod line lup, the E6X is designed to also be an entry level rod but it is designed to have more performance than the current entry level rod. I'll be honest with you, the rod markey right now is great for guys that aren't brand loyal, and I say that because you can get a rod priced in between the Fury and the E6X that will out perform both but if you want to try either brand, it is a starting point but in my opinion I think dobyns should have lowered the price on the Saavy rather than introduce a new line.

You should also consider Daiwa Tatula series rods. Daiwa is making a very good rod at the $150 price range.

Thehookuptackle has a 20% off sale. Call them to see what they can do pricing wise.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I will buy neither. I probably will go with another 13 *** or Dobbins Champion. A little more expensive but at least I know what I am getting.

As mentioned above TheHookUpTackle has a 20% off sale and TW will most likely have their annual July 4 Sale.

It might behoove you to sign up for the mailing lists of individual rod manufacturer's like Kistler, St. Croix, etc... as they sometimes have some terrific deals.

So far I love my E6X spinnerbait rod. It's great quality all the way around and it's been excellent to fish with. One of my spinnerbaits broke on a fish and so far that's the only fish that's come unbuttoned on that rod.  I seriously doubt you'd be disappointed but if you're buying a Dobyns Champion then I don't expect you'll be disappointed there either. Enjoy.

Yes in short! Its like comparing apples to oranges
