Highly Abrasion Resistant Mono

Featured Replies

I fish in super rough wood that scrapes line badly. Would 20lb Trilene XT work for my worm fishing in 1-10ft of water on a baitcaster or would that be too stiff?

17 is probably all you need.  I have fished 17 for many years and never needed anything more than that in any kind of cover.

17 is also the highest for me line wise for all my fishing with mono, fluro etc.. i use 30lb fireline once in a while but not often..

17 pound XT is as thick as 30 pound breaking strength line. I am sure you will be fine with their 14...

15lb is probably enough honestly. With any line you have to retie often to avoid breakoffs

Maxima Ultragreen Line may be the most abrasion resistant monofiliment line I've every fished.

I bought some of the 15 and it was about the stiffest line ive ever used/use and kinda a pain to manage, but also very strong, comparable to xt possibly a tad stronger but xt is way more managable for me...

Yes I just switched completely over to Sunline, but will say I would recommend Seaguar AbrazX for lots of wood and brush. I never had a prob with AbrazX and it has always held up extremely well in rough cover. As far as mono Sufix Siege in the higher # tests seemed to me to be more manageable than XT or Big Game.

XT has worked well for me in those same situations. I usually went with 17lb.
