Hey guys, I have a toad mold that I'm having problems pouring. I've tried and tried to pour this and every time I do it, I only get the upper half. Any suggestions? Thanks

There does not appear to be any place for air to get out of the mold when pouring. At the bottom of the legs there should be vent holes to let trapped air out of the mold. If you are going to repair this yourself it could be done by drilling a very small vent hole, 1/32", at the very tip of each leg. I would probablly send it back, the maker might have just missed that operation.

Like idlov2fish said, there are normally vent holes under the legs. Other than that, you could be pouring the plastic too fast or it's not at a high enough temperature. The average pouring temp is about 350 degrees.

GMan, What would you suggest for pouring the feet first?  I just use the 1-cup Pyrex dishes and they seem to pour fast so I'm not sure I could be accurate about pouring in such a tight spot.

what you will have to do is pour the feet first.  A thin stream of plastic to fill that area, then hurry up and close the mold and pour the rest of the body.  Once cool trim the legs.

Use gloves because the mold will get hot after a bit.  Its a pain but that mold pours a great frog.

No way to pour that mold without opening up and pouring the legs first. Alternative is to get an injector from Bears baits and modify the nozzel to fit the mold.

Question,   Would you have to have air cuts in the mold so the mold doesnt have pockets?  I hope that makes sense my brain isnt working yet. ;D

I have a dremel and I'm going to try and make a few "air vents" in the mold tomorrow and I will get back with my results.

I tried to make just some straight-line air vents from the legs to the holes already on the mold, and it didn't help any...so bummed...lol

I think you will need to make air vents from the very tip of the leg. but not sure there is any way to direct the air out of the mold ?

maybe a " ^ "  shape to connect each leg tip.. then from the top or peak a straight line down between the legs ????

I was just thinking this morning that I could possibly make my own version of a "spro" frog with this since I can't get it to work.  Where the plastic stops, I could insert skirt colors or something so it mimics a "spro".  Sound like a good idea?

It needs vent slots like this. You could drill a small hole right above the legs and scatcha line  from the tip of the tail to the hole.
