I Like Cork Better Than Eva

Featured Replies

I am 24 and will take cork over eva any day. I have rods with cork full grip, cork split grip, Eva split grip, and Eva full grip and enjoy them all. I just think cork looks and feels alot better.

  • May be in the minority here, but I own both and I really don't care. As long as they fit my hand and comfortable enough to fish all day, I don't have a preference either way. Mike

We had a "thing" going on here, a few years ago when a bunch of us old farts called some the the young dudes "The Pampers Crowd". They called us the Depends group. I like the Old Codgers Club much better.

All my rods are cork and

" there's nothing anybody can do about it"

Quote from Dances with Wolves only he peed his pants!

But I still have Eva on my mind..

My St. Croix Rage has an EVA handle, and I think it's the most comfortable thing in the world. EVA is a lot more grippy and all-around comfortable than cork IMO.

I'm slowly going the Winn grip route!

How are Winn grips? just curious.

I have a rod with Winn grips turning on the dryer right now. Haven't fished with it, but have done some yard casting. Initial impression; Winn grips are the real thing.

Most comfortable grip I've used by far. I like Eva and cork about the same but man Winn grips rule...

I wrap lost of my rod with tactile tennis grip tape to get the closest to Winn I can without having to buy the whole grip.

I'm not in the Winn grip camp. I can't get that same thin diameter as I can with Eva. My sweaty hands after long days in the heat didn't agree with the material at all. Most of the designs are just meh to me. Different strokes for different folks.

I am good with cork or EVA and split or full handles. As long as the rod is built using high quality components and comfortable in hand it really doesn't matter to me.

I prefer full cork, but have my share of split grip and eva too.

EVA all the way. Except on reel handles, cork there is awesome.

Nice looking grip WPCfishing. I like cork myself but I'm not entering my rod in a show so I am not the anal type about the exact cork appearance. My rods are for catching fish and they will get used/dirty. Eva is OK I have one but its not a favorite of mine.

I go with a mix, my oldest Garcia rods are cork, the new rods are a 50/50 split, I like both, no real preference.

Cork all the way. I don't mind the maintenance. I prefer full grip for cranking, split for everything else. They only EVA I'll use is the Steez; it's amazing. I never liked how "mushy" EVA felt on other rods.

What do I know though, I still prefer rear wheel drive.

If I see a rod I really like but it's EVA I'll buy it and have cork installed. I like a nice looking rod as much as anybody else but it has to feel right to me or I'll pass. I bought an IMX classic because it felt right.. 260 rod, not fancy at all. In fact the butt is an inexpensive black plastic that can be bought online for .99 cents.

I'm 25 and I prefer cork just for the look. I have both Eva and cork. When I'm catching fish I could care less what type of handle I have. When I'm shopping for new rods cork stands out to me.

in my 30s and prefer the look and feel of cork. prefer stained over brand new cork. split or full grip, don't matter if its comfortable and the rod is light.

Doesn't matter as long as I'm fishing.
