Barrel Swivel Size

Featured Replies

I'm getting into carolina rigging and have all the components but the swivels. Which size owner hyper barrel swivel would you recommend? I don't really know where to start... This will be for 1/2 ounce weight, 4/0 hook, and 7 inch worms, creatures, etc.

I would go with the size 10 or 12.

12 or 14 if I was picking yeah 14 looks plenty strong and still compact.  :dribble:

I like to go with the smallest possible size, don't really see a point in a larger swivel.

As small as I could go without the split ring getting caught or passing thru the top guide.

^^This^^ !! Very small YET you don't want so small that the swivel could actually enter  the bead hole or sinker hole (if not using a bead) ...A #10 ~ #12 size swivel size is just the ticket for this !!

Spro power swivels are rated very high and they are the smallest swivels you will find

Big strong ones for me. If a fish can look past a 1oz sinker brass clacker and red bead, I don't think a bigger stronger swivel will deter it. I fish a c-rig alot. Here's a 9# c-rig fish from yesterday.
