Rod Transportation

I need some advice on transporting rods. I have 1 pieces to the length of 7'7". I usually store them in truck diagonally from back to front passenger seat. However sometimes I need to take my dogs and I don't have the room.

I was thinking of the large bazuka tube and strapping into my shortbed. It is 80 bucks though and was hoping someone knows of a cheaper alternative that would protect my rods while riding in the bed.

I use reel covers and rod covers. I just lay them in the bed. I put a towel down first. Just for added protection.

Bed is too short, even diagonally I do believe.

i have a tundra long bed with a 8' bed , that said i have rods that are 8'6 and 9' , i went to home depot and bought a 3'' x 10' black pvc pipe , added a cleanout (a screw cap ) and an end cap , think it cost me around $25 , buy the 10' pipe and then you can cut it down to your needs ,

Look up a product called the rodsman. I have 2 of them. They work well.

In my subaru I fold the back seat down and put them in from the trunk on an angle.

I've never read the reviews. I own 2 sets of them and they've worked just fine for me over the years. Some rear butts are too big to fit in them but I've only had that happen with my swimbait setup. I just laid it diagonally.

all my rods havethe EVA tapered butts on them , means they won't work , i'm currently looking to improve on my rod transportation right now . looking into incorporating the 3'' pvc tube i use now by using the slots for 2 x 6's on the inside of the truck bed , i have a tundra long bed , i'll post pics one day when i figure it out , my plan so far is to make spots for (3) 3'' x 10' laying long ways in the bed lying ascross the tops of the verticl 2 x 6's ...

My bed is only 5 foot. Laying rods diagonally means they hang over tailgate.

I've found a way to Jimmy them into the cab with the dogs. Not perfect but gets job done.
