Featured Replies

I stumbled across this website last night, http://strikeon.com/about/ , Im liking their line of rabbit hair tied spinnerbaits and jigs, such as...

They also have a variety of common plastics with rabbit fur appendages.

What are your thoughts?

Hey, why not? Flies, jigs, and dressed hooks on in-line spinners and other lures with feathers, squirrel hair, deer hair, and other kinds of fur have been catching fish forever.

Great idea.   Natural materials have more natural movements.

the thing about natural baits is that they make movement when still or coming to a stop, not moving.  When moving they all pretty much streamline to a slender mass.  For jigs they would definitely work, I use them for fly fishing all the time and they are my go to bait for the most part for smallies.

There used to be a company called Hammering Hare baits. The fur holds water for days and rust the hook like no other.

I always tie my rabbit hair flies on saltwater stainless hooks because of the exact reason you mentioned.

Hmm...good point.   I sense a blow dryer in my future.

Optimum baits has a line of frogs called Furbits. It's a hollow body frog with rabbit fur for legs. Never tried, seemed a little off to me...  I've also seen some spinnerbaits in the OP style sitting in the discount bin at my local Gander for years.
