Should I get a St. Croix or Kistler Magnesium both in heavy action for frogging?I will put a Lew's Speed Spool on it. What kind of line should I get? I already have a Kopper LiveTarget frog. Also if I get either of those rods in heavy action could I use them for cranking/soft baits/ jigging?

I use 40 lb braid, some use 50 or 65 lb.

I used 30lb braid with a 7ft medium heavy rod. But I also wasn't fishing the heaviest slop. Most like 65lb. If you get a heavy rod for frogging I don't think it would make a good cranking rod or soft plastic rod. Maybe heavy jigs and larger swim baits.

The livetarget mouse has been on fire for me. I use suffix 832 30lb braid and never had any problems with it.

I can't speak to those rods, but I use a 7' H rod with 50lb braid. You could use that set up for jigs or big swimbaits.

Agree. I have 2 Ethos poles that I got on clearance and saved a lot of money. They're great poles, even if you can't find them as cheap as clearance. they usually go on sale quite often around here.

 

Assuming you're up to looking at a different brand other than what you mentioned of course. 

I use a 7' 3" H/F Ethos Micro for my frog rod, paired with a 200E7 and 50lb Sufix 832. By far the best frog rod I've ever owned and only $80 at full price. I used it for a jig/plastics rod before and it works just fine, wouldn't use it for cranking though.
