Kayak Fishing Club (Kc Area)

Featured Replies

I've noticed quite a bit of kayak fisherman on here and just wanted to throw out some exposure to a little club that has been gaining traction the last couple years.  We are growing every year and have some big plans for next year.  We had a 10 tournament circuit this year that is coming to an end, but it is not too late to come check us out and fish with some fellow Yakers.  We are sending the top 5 anglers for the circuit to the 2015 Tournament of Champions Kayak Bass Fishing World Championship at Lake Fork, TX.  We are also a qualifier circuit for the KBF National Championship in march.  Our club name is North East Kansas Kayak Anglers (N.E.K.K.A.). We are not limited to just Kansas anglers though, we have KS and MO guys participating.  Next year we are going to be eliminating the Kansas from our club name so we don't seem exclusive to Kansas.

We have two more tournaments this month to close out the 2015 tournament series.  We are also planning a few more other "fun" tournaments in the coming weeks.  Check us out using this link:  http://northeastkansaskayakanglers.com/.  We are also on facebook under the group name "North East Kansas Kayak Anglers".

I'd be more than happy to answer any questions about the club you may have.

Just wanted to bump this.  We have one tournament done for the 2016 season, but it is not too late to get in on the action.  We have a lot of great things coming up other than our normal circuit, so we are always looking for new people to join us.

I have a question for kayak fishing in general if you might be able to help.

Me and a buddy are just now getting into fishing and we're ready to get off the banks. We're interested in kayak fishing but want to experience it a few times before making the investment in our own yaks.

Is there anywhere in the KCMO area that rents out kayaks in areas with decent fishing?

Anything else you could recommend us to give us a taste?

I believe you can rent them on Jacomo, which is a pretty good lake. I don't know if they're really fishing kayaks though.

BPS did a kayak demo not too long ago so you could get to try out some of the kayaks they had available, so you might check with them.

Kayak fishing is a lot of fun. I enjoy the simplicity of it, not just the fishing but being able to just throw it in the back of my truck and go instead of uncovering my boat, unhooking batteries, making sure tires and lights are good, hooking everything up, and spending a lot more on gas hauling it.

I'd really like to fish some kayak tournaments but my schedule doesn't allow for it since I don't have weekends off.

I'm not sure of anyone close that rents out kayaks for fishing.  You can find recreational kayak rentals, but that is an entirely different experience from a kayak designed for fishing.  The kayak fishing club that im a part of is full of awesome people that have spare kayaks.  I'm sure if you just asked someone would be willing to meet up with you and fish.  Look up Northeast Kansas Kayak Anglers on facebook.  There is a very large pool of guys very active on the group.  (Check out the link in my signature).

Also, if your willing to travel just a few hours north, there is a Kayak Guide service run by a guy named Marty Hughes.  http://www.kayakjak.com/  He has a huge fleet of kayaks and he is very reasonable on his prices.  Also with him guiding, you will catch fish.
