Best Flippin Stick? $150 Or Less!

Featured Replies

Looking for a dedicated Flipping/ Punching rod that i can also launch those new Keitech toads into the next county with. These are the rods I am looking at right now:

Denali J2 7'11" Extra Heavy Fast

iRod Genesis II Bub's Punch Rod 7'11" Heavy Moderate Fast

Phenix Maxim 7'11" Heavy Extra Fast

Daiwa Tatula XT 8' Heavy Fast

Anyone have any experience with any of these? Or any other suggestions? Thanks!

Get the regular Tatula rod instead of the Tatula XT. Better guides which matter a lot during the high stress of punching.

Daiwa Tatula 761HFB all the way. I can launch frogs across the pond, no problem, along with dragging jigs, punching mats, throwing c rigs, deep cranks, 6" soft swimbaits on weighted 5/0 hooks, heavy jika rigs, you name it. It's easily my most versatile rod and my go-to. If you must have the longest possible rod, the tat xt would probably be a solid choice, but the standard flippin stick can be had for under $150 shipped.

Check out the Rage series by St Croix, they have a 7'6" mhmf and a 7'11" that should do what you want.  A very good blank for around $90.00

I have no experience with the above rods, so please feel free to discount my post completely...but I will say that this; I'm thrilled with my Mat Daddy.

With their discounts and free shipping, I got this for just south of $100 and I could NOT be happier.

Honestly you can't go wrong with the Denali J2. That's a lot of rod for the money. I have 4 all dedicated may/punching rods. I have yanked some fish out of some pretty nasty stuff on toho and kississimmee. My fav and go to is the 7'8 kovert series flipping stick. I punch and throw magnum swimbaits on it. Best of all their customer service is top notch and that's huge for me.

The Tatula Rod is a great choice. It has a ton of backbone and great sensitivity
