I've got one.  Seldom use my spinning outfits.  Most people today prefer the infinite anti-reverse (also called instant anti-reverse) found on newer reels.  However, the drag is suppose to be one of the best.  I have to say I also prefer the instant anti-reverse.  Pflueger makes some very nice reels for the money.  Several are within your $100 budget,  I haven't tried one yet, but Daiwa's new Fuego would be a perfect fit on my older Fuego spinning rod.  I've got a few older Daiwas (besides the Tournament SS series) and have had no problems the little I have used them.  Lots of people will also recommend a Shimano or possibly a Lews.  $100 will get you a pretty good spinning reel.  Heck, some love the $40 Pflueger Trion.  :teeth:

My buddy has a trion he likes it but I don't think he has spent 40.00 on anything his whole life! Lol

I have one,and it is a great real. I bought it here also, just like new. As far as not having antireverse,it's no big deal really. It does have a excellent drag! It's really gonna be a personal choice of the antireverse feature? I can and do fish both types, but if you ever decide to sell it,pm me please or we can work out a trade for one of my many used like new spinners.

A tank of a reel.. They just keep working & working. Very dependable.

Tim Hoover, of Backroom Baits, has 6 of them on the boat at all times. He takes a ribbing from the guys fishing with him using their JDM gear. But they work day in and day out, 250+ days a year, 50+ fish a day. Brian.

That is truth!

I've had one for many years and 90% of the time, it gets used in salt water, fighting fish bigger than it should be fighting.  :-)  It has a wonderful drag and keeps on working like a quality tool should.  It just doesn't have that silky-smooth, instant-anti-reverse, chuck-full-of-bearings feel like a Symetre or similar modern-style reel.  I have complete faith in that old Whisker!

Tight lines,

Bob

Lots of walleye guys around here have been using theirs for years and years w/o issues. One of the most bland, boring, and "unsexy" looking reels around but it will perform like the best of them.
