Need An Opinion On This Line Of Rods.

Featured Replies

Has anyone used/have the Powell MAX 3-D seris of spinning rods?  If so, what is your opinion of them? I am looking at the 713 MEF to be used to a max. of 1/2 oz. or lighter crank baits baits.

Rod is 7ft 1 in. Medium Power 3             1/8 to 1/2 oz. Extra Fast on Powell web site.

I only have the casting versions of the 3d max but have fished with a couple old insurances from Powell in spinning rods and like them. Sensitive and light rods. With the new lowered prices I was thinking of getting that exact rod. If you end up getting it let us know how you like it! It sounds like a good all around rod.

I tried a 683 casting rod. Super light weight and great action. The workmanship was top notch.

In my opinion, if it's Powell it's good. I wouldn't worry about disappointment.

I've heard a ton of good things about Powell, I've always wanted to try one out.

That's what I thought... Then I tried one and now I can't even fish with my old rods. They're relatively cheap for the quality but still 160 bucks per rod adds up!

I own the Max 3D 712 MLEF and it's my favorite rod by far. I use primarily for drop shotting and other finesse techniques. The rod is super light weight, sensitive and well built. I have a few Diesels, an original Max, an Endurance and the 3D... All are quality rods and perform how you expect them to for what you pay for each. With Powell's new pricing structure, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value.
