Light Spincast Rod ?

Featured Replies

Does anyone use a light spincast 5'6" rod for a light casting rod?

I have an old medium pistol grip 5'6" in the trunk of my car at all times. It's a boron rod, probably from the early 80s, my dad got it for Christmas when I was little.

The rod is 60% backbone and 40% flex at the tip. Not too bad for using a casting reel with lighter baits.

There is no such thing as a spincast rod, there's spinning, trigger and casting ( "pistol grip" ) rods and there are spinning, baitcasting, spincast and underspin reels.

You would think there'd have to be specific "spincast" rods, because most are a lot lighter than pistol grip baitcasting rods.

The pistol grip baitcasting rods I've seen and handled have all been super heavy.

The pistol grip rod with a reel seat on the top side is a bait casting rod that is often used with top mounted spin cast reel. Spin cast reels are also made to be mounted under the rod like a spinning reel, called trigger spin cast reel, verses the push buttom (zebco) style spin cast reel.

Raul is correct!

There are plenty of cheap rods out there clearly marked spincast on the blank.

Post a link to 1 that isn't a spin cast rod-reel combo.
