So my girlfriend was looking through some cyber monday deals online and from Dicks she ordered me one of those Writt&Mcgill skeet reese rods because they were only 30 bucks. The only thing is, they were only available in 6'3 mhf, which is what she ordered. 

 

It was very sweet of her, and don't get me wrong, those skeet reese rods are defiantly worth picking up for 30 bucks, I just don't really know what im going to do with it. Im not used to using rods below 7-7'3. I was thinking finesse jigs?

 

If you have any ideas as to what I should use this rod for, let me know. 

topwater, jerkbaits even spinnerbaits in tighter quarters.  i prefer the shorter rods myself...  solid buy at $30

I fish a lot of ponds with heavy brush, 6'3" is my favorite size to control backswing and get bait in tight places. It allows me to fight overgrowth to get to parts of ponds others walk by.

Topwater and larger jerkbaits.

I agree it sounds like a good rod to skip docks with / close quarters pitching

I have a 6' MHF that is dedicated to spinnerbaits for just this purpose. 

I have that rod. It fishes smaller spinnerbaits and medium/large jerkbaits well. 

I never saw those in a 6'3", only a 6'4".  The 6'4" model is listed as a jig and worm rod and that would be a good size to skip jigs and stick worms and it would also be a good target spinnerbait rod.

I thought it was weird too, but apparently it's the only model dicks felt like putting on sale. 

Back in olden times, when everyone sat down to fish, a 6'3" rod was considered a little long.   Try it on different stuff and see what you like.   MH means different things to different manufacturers.   I'd probably try it first on reaction baits like spinnerbaits and square bills, depending on how "tippy" it is.     

I would use it for skipping under docks, top water, or any other twitch bait

Sounds like it should be a good rod for anything close quarters as well as a topwater/jerkbait rod
