Gloomis Imx Casting Rods Opinions

Featured Replies

Hello to all, I'm thinking about picking up one of the IMX rods, i own several GL2's  and a GLX    all of wich are split grip ... How do they compare to the others ?    Thanks Carl

Although the IMX is a great series, once you own the GLX you

will not be thrilled by anything less. The real test is whether to

stick with GLX or move up to the NRX.

I've heard that ,But I'm probably one of the few around that like the GL2's I have 5 of them, the GLX is an 805c that I use for my sml mattlures  it works great ...

My first Loomis was an IMX 844 - super sensitive and all around awesome rod.  Then since I fish a ton of bottom contact stuff - t-rig, jigs, etc I bought a NRX 893C - HOLY SMOKES - its magic!  Then a few months later a bought a NRX 852S for Shakey head, drop shot, etc.  Love it.

Somewhere in the middle I also bought a GLX 855C which I use for heavier crankbaits, lipless cranks over a 1/2oz, and just recently have liked it for chatterbaits.  I also want to throw larger topwater baits on it next year.  I own a 783C which I primarily use for spinnerbaits and simjigs - I used to use for chatterbaits as well but I found it a little under powered for my liking.  The 783 is a great all around rod, I really have thrown everything on it at one point or another - trig, jigs, lipless cranks, etc...

If you are using it for an application that requires great sensitivity then get the best rod you can afford.  That's just my opinion.

Thanks for the warning Roadwarrior. I was contemplating going down this path too.

Unfortunate part then is trying to figure out if you want to spend 300-600 on a rod or build a custom ;)

Yes!  The RainShadow blanks will spoil even the most finicky fishermen out there. I have recently submitted

a review of the RainShadow Eternity2 which should be posted on our Home Page shortly. I have been fishing

another RainShadow, the Immortal, and will write a review on that blank in the near future. I am in the process

of converting to custom builds exclusively. If anyone is interested I have several GLX MBR and BCR for sale.
