Recently came across/purchased a great deal on a brand new quantum EXO 6:6.1 Bcaster. I'm looking to pair this reel up with a technique specific Rod and from reading other forms I have noticed there's a lot of very educated anglers on here, Thats why I'm going to you looking for advise. The last few years the bass itch keeps getting worse! I'm hooked! I do have four other go to techniquespecific combos that I will list at the bottom of this topic. What im leaning towards for this purchase is jerkbait/chatterbait/light top water/spinnerbaits 1/2oz and less. Most of all i want this rod to also be smaller in length like 6' to 6'6" for precise bait placement ext... jerkbait or topwater is what's needed the most to continue to help me become a more versatile angler if that helps. If i had to give price range 150$ to 300$.

I'd suggest a St. Croix Legend Tournament Avid rod

in 6' or such. The LT doesn't have anything under 6'8",

but they are splendid rods. Just got a spinning model

which is unbelievably sensitive.

Looks like you're a ST Croix Mojo user.

 

I'd recommend the MBC66MF, the MBC66MHF or if you could deal with the extra 2 inches, the MBC68MXF.

Having a few of those reels, but none of those rods, I prefer to fish something in a 7ft MH action for a chatterbait/spinnerbait.  The reel also makes a great lippless cranking reel btw.

Thanks guys seriously all yzall have me looking right away. Yes i am a mojo user it was my first baitcaster purchase.You cant beat them for the price as strong and sensitive as they are. Its worth it. Realy on sale Looks like im getting another mojo regardless thanks. Iv been looking at the glooms rod you mentioned do you have one? What do you throw on it if you dont mind?

Looking at your rod lenghts, why don't you look and see if they have something in a 7'2"-7'3" M or MH.  Just a thought.  But like I stated I'm not a St Croix guy and have no experience with their rods.  

As many other people have suggested, St. Croix is a very good company, especially with their customer service. However, if you are looking at the Premier, I suggest you don't buy the cheaper $89 models: Those are made with the SCII blanks, and many people, including myself, have had experienced their tendency to snap on casts/hooksets. 

 

I do agree with Darren that you should look into the St. Croix Avid: I have a 7 ft. Medium Fast Spinning model, and the rod is sensitive, lightweight, and a pleasure to fish with. Hope this helps you out.

I'd be looking at the 6'6" M/F or 6'8" M/XF St. Croix. I use the 6'6" M/F Xtreme for my jerkbaits and it's an absolutely great rod for it.

Match it up with a quantum smoke imo.  I think I got mine for just a tad over $100 on Amazon.  The reel is already light might as well keep the whole setup light.  I think my 6'9"MHF goes 3.5oz.
