What power rod?

What kind of bait and line are you fishing? How big are these piles?

Haven't really fished brush piles yet, but I will be once I get my FF installed on my Kayak.

I'll be using jigs, TRig bugs, TRig big worms. I was thinking a Heavy/fast with a 7.1.1 spooled either w/ 20lb Flouro or 50lb braid

Also, should I peg the weights or just let them slide?

My setup for this is a MH/F 6' hybrid rod with 50lb braid and heavy reel with 26ipt retrieve.

I let the weight slide. I tend to think this makes it look like the worm (or whatever) is chasing it and triggers a strike due to bass' competitive natures.

I'd probably go with a MH/F or H/F depending on the bait you're using. I'd also probably stick with the fluoro in the brush, but you could do work with the braid too.

When would you use the H/F

I really like my 7'6 Heavy Fast Action Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature Series. Awesome back bone but even better tip. Well worth the $150. When dragging that bait through trash, the tip allows me to feel everything. I pair it with 20lb Seagur Red Label. I understand where the other guys are coming from with letting the weight slide, but I like to peg it. It is less likely to get hung on the cover. Remember that even though braid is a smaller diameter, it is fairly loud when coming over branches. Not that it would matter, because in my eyes, if that big ol sow is hungry, she will eat regardless. But if the bite is tough, keep that in mind. Good luck, tight lines

When would you use the H/F

I'd step up to the H/F if it was really thick brush where I'm really going to have to jack them and basically rip them out of the cover.
