I have a  m.k. edge 70# motor that has very bad torque steer especially on the highest speed setting (5). Does any one know how I can make it better? Question 2 does any one else have this problem with their t.m's

The problem with the Edge trolling motor and torque steer is the trolling motor shaft connects the motor at the nose of the motor.  This leaves most of the motor behind the shaft= not very balanced. If you look at a Maxxum or Foretrex the shaft connects to the center of the motor. They have much less torque steer.  Nothing you can do about it, other than don't run your Edge on high.

Pretty much agree with RFSims. Only thing I'd add is that you might try and see if you can find a 3 or 4-blade prop that will work on that motor. While you lose some overall thrust, it should also diminish the torque. You just have to decide on whether the trade-off is worth it to you. I ran one for a year or two on my TM before ultimately going back to a standard 2-blade prop.

I second the trollperfect.  I run a 112 lb fortrex and it has an adjustable thumb screw that allows you to dial in the perfect amount of friction to help diminish the torque.

I'm looking at going with that beast of a Fortrex myself.

Does the troll perfect make that much of a difference on your unit ?

Yes A-Jay.  The Trollperfect is definitely worth the money in my opinion.  just makes the operation of it very smooth especially in the higher ranges of speed.  On Erie and other rough water days it is a MUST !
