been a while, have not fished since end of 14, I am jumping in with a fever and a monkey. my friend has opened a Giant camping, fishing etc.. outdoors store. He has been buying apparently  pallets or something from Gander, academy and bps. his new stock today was literally new carbonlites and crankin sticks for 25.00 bucks.  At the end of my fishing hiatus, I was learning to crank bait. having me a 7 MH'M Croix premier, I liked the feel . Was always told moderate was way to go. with a boat now I wanna try deeper cranks. He has the 7'10 MH which is 1/2-  1 1/2; though it is fast action. Will it be a big difference on hook set and feel. I mean 25.00 bucks is pretty dang good.

That 7'10" MH fast action would probably make a good Carolina rig, jig or frog rod.

You can try it for $25.  If not you have a new flipping/pitching rod.

That's pretty sweet -- a friend with a new outdoor store.  For $25, no reason to not just get it and try it out for awhile. If it doesn't work out, keep it for frogs/jigs/punching/heavier stuff, and spend some time shopping around for something more appropriate.

However you label a rod it should be able to perform the task you use it for.

For deep diving crankbaits the rod needs to be able to cast the lure with ease a distance that allows the lure to dive to the depths you intend to fish. Ease of casting is priority #1.

The deal is undeniable. However, as to the original question it will feel much different than the Rod you compare to. Most prefer a mod or mod fast for cranks but there are a handful that like fast actions. Give it a whirl and see what happens .
