Mepps Aglia: Box For Keeping Them Neat & Sorted ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Use, and lose, a lot of Mepps Aglia Spinners.

Dressed and plain styles, sizes 0 thru 3, single and treble hooks.

As you can imagine, and probably experienced, just tossing them (all) into a compartment

in the tackle box results in an incredible entangled mess. Same problem if just put all together in a small Plano box.

Anyone ever find any product like a small box, or whatever, that keeps then "neat" and organized ?

Perhaps something from the fly fishing world ?

Thanks,

Bob

I don't use and loose a lot of them, but I rely on inline spinners at certain times for various species. I just throw them in a 3600 with no more than 4 in each compartment, makes it easy to put all in palm and pick the one I want. If you are OCD organization angler guy, pool noodle or pipe insulation cut to size will make a great way to stick the hooks in and keep them put, fly guy style.

Look at something like the Plano 3504 Spinnerbait Box ~  This style of vertical organization will allow for plenty of bait separation at the same time allowing dressed trebles & shiny blades to dry.

You are not going to find something like an in-line spinner box, given the small size you are talking about you can make yourself one, it´s just a matter of sawing slots on the dividers of any Stowaway Plano box to perform the function of a "spinnerbait box"

I saw this box that is used to separate orings and thought of this post. With enough dividers, you could fit lots of inline spinners in there.

The Plano 3455 with all dividers in place is the closest thing I've found that will store spinners without wasting too much space.  I use it for smaller trout lures so I have some Panther Martins, Rooster Tails, Blue Fox, Super Dupers, and Kastmasters in there.  It can fit at least 3 spinners in each slot with room to spare, even using Owner Hook Guards.  I don't have any Mepps Aglia's so I don't know how long those run compared to the other spinner brands, but definitely check out the 3455.

Id try a 3601 thin, or a 4600 guide series. The guide series would be a better choice if i were the one looking :)

Whatever you choose, be sure to add a desiccant (or two).  Dressed Aglias that aren't sufficiently dry will rust out their hooks rather quickly.  I've lost more Mepps baits over the years through rusty hooks than through snags.
