Casting reel size question

Featured Replies

I'd like to buy another casting reel so wanted to ask a question on size. I have a strong preference for my Curado 50E size as I have smaller hands and this reel just seems to be the perfect size for me. Unsure if I can find another 50E, Curado or Chronarch, in my budget.

I don't have a major retailer near me to try the different reels so thought I'd ask if there are any 100 or 200 size reels that would palm like a 50E or close to it? Would have to be $100 or less. What about the Lew's LFS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I find a Lew's reels to be very palmable. The LITE is even more so, but also over budget on sale.
As far as going for a Shimano 50E, go post something on the BassResource Flea Market!

Agree. The curado I seems to be smaller than the last gen E series.  At least it palms better for me

Thanks guys. I will try to get a look at a 200i

I suggest checking out the lews the 100 Dolor speed spool. It is the best 100 Dolor reel in my opinion. Every reel I own but two are lews an I love every one. I feel like they are the best for the money!

Lews LFS $79 on Ebay.  I don't think there is a more compact reel.  I have handled pretty much all of the reels at BPS.  Abu Revos probably sit as low on the rod as the LFS, but are wider and much pricier.

When people say Speed Spool that could mean pretty much any Lews.  Look for it to say "LFS" on the reel.  Pretty much all the new models are going to the LFS version.

I appreciate all of the responses. Today was one of those days that happen every few years where stuff just falls into place. I took a trip to my local shops and discovered one of them had a Curado 50E at an incredible price so it came home with me.

The search is officially over........well for now. :D
