FLORO or BRAID? For spinner baits in heavy cover?

Featured Replies

During the summer I fish Conesus lake in New York. It gets heavily weed choked and only a willow leaf spinner blade will cut through. I would like a line suggestion either Florocarbon or Braid and the suggested poundage. BUT, while also keeping in mind your guaranteed to run into large pike and Tiger Muskie's. So I want something that wont break easily.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking either 20lb floro or braid.

For teeth I'd rather have the Floro

Floro

50 lb braid and possibly a 30 lb wire leader. I like making my own leaders for toothy critter applications and stinger trebles.

Welcome aboard, Brandon!

I didn't fish Consesus much when I lived up there,
but I can say that you can use braid and tie on a
heavy fluoro leader (or the titanium wire leader that
can knot up).

Nastiest creature I've got down here, or at least one
of the nastiest with teeth, is the chain pickerel, which
isn't as big as your Tiger Muskies... I have caught them
on 8lb mono. Also lost them on 15 lb copoly, so all
depends on where they're hooked.
