Was walking the dog and picked up one of the rusty railroad spikes from the old line they pulled out years back.  Decided I was going to give it a whirl and pound it out into a simple fixed blade.  

Came out pretty good for a quick college try!  Might have to scrounge up a few dozen more!

Hadn't really thought about it.  Let me figure out how much labor there was in it and I'll let you know what I could make you something for. 

I've been following some blacksmiths and knife makers on Instagram and some of the knives some of these guys are showing are true works of art!!

My pops got me a couple cutlery knives from a guy in Lakeland FL and they are so nice. He was on the Forged in Fire?? show on discovery channel or history channel, can't remember! 

Wish I could do stuff like that!! Looks pretty cool!

That is awesome brother. I never thought to put holes in a spike knife. I like that alot. I've been making rail road spike knives for a couple years now. That  turned out really well.

With a drill press.  I didn't want to put it in the iron worker and risk bending it.  

 

And Jtrout it took a couple hours of hand work.  An Oxy-Acetylene torch with a rosebud head, a 4lb hammer, a belt sander and a 4" wheel with some form of lighter abrasive polishing is all you really need to make one in basic form.  

I was wonder if you used a press or was trying to put them in while it was still hot

Gents, The knife is a cool piece. I have a large knife collection myself. But I  didn't buy any of them here, nor will I ever offer any for sale on this site.

Care to guess why? It's against the rules. No knive or firearms will be sold here. That is not negotiable. 

Pics are fine. The story behind the piece is nice. Selling or offering to buy is not.
