Crawdad Rigging Questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

Guess it's always a case of whatever works, but what is the generally accepted

method for rigging and fishing those small rubbery Crawdad imitations ?

e.g.:

a. Always fished as a jig ?

Ever just used without the jig, with just a hook rigged thru them, and dragged along the bottom ?

b.  And, I see now that the ZMan products have these Crawdad  imitations that are buoyant.

So, what's the best techniques for using these; again, as a jig, or... ?

BTW: Fish ever find, and take, Crawdad's that are not on the bottom ?  Or, Crawdad's always on bottom ?

Thanks,

Bob

I would guess that most use them:

-with jig head - most skirted, some naked

-Texas rigged

-drop shot

-weighted hook

-some sort of swinging hook or weight

-carolina rigged

You're correct...it depends and there's no rules.

I primarily use them as a trailer on a skirted jig, on a shaky head, or on a weighted hook

Funny, though, I have had no luck with the more realistic looking pre-rigged crawfish lures
