2 Stroke hours how much is to much?

Featured Replies

Is a 1000 hours on a 2 stroke motor a lot of hours? How far will one go? This one is a 2002 90hp Evinrude on a bass boat that was ran on Table Rock for the most part. I could see one on a big lake having more hours on it. Don't want to by one that is all most done.

Ehhhhh, so many variables come in to play with this question, yes 1000 hours is high, but if the motor was taken care of, not driven like it was stolen, and had regular maintenance done to it than it shouldn't be a deal breaker, with it being a smaller engine I wouldn't worry that much about the hours. It should have a good life left in it, however you might have to sink some pocket change in it to keep it running down the line, don't take my word for it though, go with your gut. Me personally I wouldn't worry about it, given the fact it was in my budget and it looked to be in good shape.

1,000 hours in 14 years!

IDK! ;)

1,000 hours is a lot of hours for any engine (2 or 4 stroke)  imo, but as already said, it could be fine if maintained properly over the years.  Personally, I wouldn't buy it without first having a compression test done on it (but that's just me)
