Protecting hardbait hooks during transport and storage?

Featured Replies

I like the hook bonnets, they work well for me. They have 100 packs on Amazon.

I change my hooks every few years so it's a non issue for me.

I take an old senko or any old beat up soft plastic and cut a small piece and cover the hooks.Works for me!

The salt from most soft plastics will eventually cause the hooks to rust if they're exposed to any moisture.

I used to do that with my jigheads and found that many had rusted in very little time.

Interesting to see how A-Jay fares with this.

I'll respond here with my results.

Once I've been doing it long enough to determine which is the bigger PIA for me;

Dealing with the tangled baits or fussing with the little rubber bands.

Guess we'll see.

Funny this topic came up, I just saw this video earlier this week

 I've been using the hook bonnets since I posted about them when the thread was new, and I have absolutely no complaints with them.

My favorite thing about them is that it makes it so easy to let my cranks dry before I put them back in the Planos.  I can't remember the last time I got a rusty hook or split ring.
