I'd like to put together a small zip lock bag of shakey head tackle. What jigheads and worms do I need to grab? I'd like to keep my order to $20 or less. Just want to try a sample.

The jig head and worm choices are almost endless.  For starters I would choose one of the stand-up styles in 1/8 or 3/16oz.  A floating worm in a couple of lengths and colors of your choice will get you started. ( I like the Havoc baits)

I have had great success with the Owner Ultra Shakeyhead Head jig.  1/4 oz. is good

This head is ideal as the twist in top part is fairly thin and secures the plastic perfectly.

I pair this with the Gary Y. Mini craw that is about 3.5 inches long in pumpkin with green and black flakes or the watermelon color with red flakes.  This can be set up to fish weedless on the shakeyhead.

I think you should have great success with this and you really don't need that much tackle to have good success. Best of luck.

Grab a couple 60°and 90° shakey head jigs. They both have their pros and cons. I usually use a Zoom Trick Worms, My Favorite is the Motoroil color. Also grab some crazy glue. 

One trick I like to do when throwing a Shakey Head is, I put a little bit of Crazy Glue on the jig head before sliding worm on to the head. That way my Worm can last alot longer and doesn't rip apart when a bass strikes it.

*From what I know the 60° Shakey Head ( doesn't get hung up that easy but, doesn't shake as much) A 90° Shakey Head (gets hung up more easy but, shakes a little more than a 60° jig head)

Get the spot removers, usually a couple bucks a academy.for worms i like zman nee rig worms and zoom finesse worms which are a little bit shorter than trick worms

I pour my own heads but for worms I like Netbait Tmac worms. They come in good colors and have a flat nose so they're much easier to rig than most worms. 

3/16oz Owner Shakyhead jigs, and some 6" Roboworms in watermelon/red flake,  green pumpkin, and maybe a dark purple.

That'll run about $15 and cover a lot of circumstances.

I used just about every shky head out there before making my own, that way I'd have the one that works for me. I'm different that a lot of anglers in that I like a round shaky head in a non-stand up model and I liked a flat eye hook as well. I used rugby heads as well as the Gamakatsu skip gap and those are ok and I've use the spot remover pro and the Fin Tech Title Shot and those are ok as well but I prefer a screw lock to a spike or the T-rig type. The T-rig type like the Rugby head are favored by those who like the Z-Man plastics because those worms don't like screw locks, and I found with the worms I like they end up sliding down after a fish or 2. The spike like the spot remover pro and the Title Shot use works ok and if I can have a screw lock I'd go that route. The screw lock is what I like, it takes an extra second of two to rig but it holds the best of all of them and the round head seems to work as well, if not better than a stand up head for me anyway. I use 1/16oz up to 3/8oz but 1/8oz is what I use most of the time but I'll adjust for depth. Worms, well there are a lot, my favorites are the Basstrix Locomotion worms in 6" and River Rock Baits SM Killer in 4.5", those are my clear water baits and for dirty water I like the Stanley Sidewinder and the Hags Tornado.

clayton, if you continue to tell everyone about these worms, consider us no longer on friendly terms!!!!!!  no, but seriously, they are some kind of good for the shakyhead.  and if you bump it up to the "super" t mac (9" worm) they are dy-no-mite for the t rig.  i have them in black, junebug and green pumpkin and they cover most all my t rig worm needs!

i have a few of the megastrike heads still left from a friend giving me some, but after they're gone i intend on giving the owner shakyheads a "fair shake" (lol, see what i did there, god i'm bored at work today).... i really like owner products for the most part and i've heard nothing but good about them.

Ironically the Tmac were 1 of the 2 worms I picked. The other was the Larry Nixon Berkley Havoc bottom hopper. Both got great reviews.

+1 to the Owner Ultra Shakeyheads.  For plastics try the Damiki Air Pocket worm or a GYCB Pro Senko!
